Could there ever be a crossover more forged in the flames of hell than The Cramps and The Killer himself? We didn’t think so. That’s why we thought “What’s Inside a Girl” was perfect for a Jerry Lee Lewis, piano-pumpin’ boogie treatment. Johnny Shakes puts his formidable sexy quake on piano and vocals. Riding shotgun with his flaming Telecaster is J.P. McDermott (leader of his own Western Bop trio), and driving it all straight to hell is Matty Pensabene (Crown City Bombers, Dani & the Delinquents) on bass; and Billy B. Horton on drums. This unholy amalgamation was dreamed up and arranged by Horton; it was engineered by Shorty Poole at Rockomatic Recording Service in Los Angeles. Poole and Horton co-produced.
